TIAX President Kenan Sahin received the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations Foundation’s Ellis Island Medal of Honor on historic Ellis Island.
The Ellis Island Medal of Honor is presented to outstanding American citizens from all walks of life who have distinguished themselves within their own ethnic groups. Past medalists include Supreme Court justices, Nobel Prize winners, Presidents of the United States, athletes, entertainers, corporate giants and individuals whose inspired service to others has touched their communities and changed lives.
Three Turkish citizens were awarded with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in New York, the United States. Businessman Kenan Sahin living in Boston, Matt Yildizlar living in Chicago and Turkish citizen of Greek descent Andre Dimitriadis received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for outstanding achievement in his personal and professional life coupled with preservation of their culture and heritage and noteworthy citizenship to the United States. Kenan Sahin said, “I am glad to receive this award as a Turk living in the United States for 50 years.”
