TIAX and Setaram to Distribute World's Most Advanced Adiabatic Calorimeters in EuropeDevice helps in designing safer products and processesMarch 3, 2003 (Cambridge, MA) - TIAX, a premier product and technology-development firm, announced today that it has signed an agreement with French instrumentation company Setaram to distribute the TIAX ARC® and APTAC accelerating rate adiabatic calorimeters throughout Europe. Adiabatic calorimeters measure heat emitted from chemicals, batteries, capacitors and other portable energy-producing products to determine their thermodynamic and kinetic properties. They are used to simulate the conditions in various chemical reactions and then collect and interpret the data from these reactions. That information is then used to design safer products and processes. Industries, such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and energy, as well as the military and government agencies and laboratories, use adiabatic calorimeters to study thermal hazards, chemical kinetics, storage and transportation issues, process interruptions, and chemical process design. Adiabatic calorimeters are also used to investigate accidents and develop air bags, rechargeable batteries, spacecraft and rocket propulsion. "Having Setaram, a leading instrument manufacturer, add our premium ARC line to its calorimeter offerings will make it possible for lab managers in Europe to order and use this leading instrument with its unique sensitivity and features," said Robert Wilson, TIAX Managing Director. "We're also excited to have this partnership with Setaram, because together we have the opportunity to develop new calorimeter products that we can sell jointly." The agreement complements TIAX's existing worldwide distribution network, which includes China, Israel, Japan, and Korea. "We are extremely pleased to be able to offer ARC and APTAC as the most advanced adiabatic calorimeters in Europe," said Joël Viry, General Manager of SETARAM. "These high performance adiabatic calorimeters will perfectly complete our SETARAM calorimeters range of products, especially those that are used for ensuring the safety of processes."
