Job Summary (Purpose):
The Senior Staff Accountant will be a key and visible member of the 5 person accounting/finance team responsible for the company’s accounting systems and financial information needs.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Convert client contract requirements into a project structure that meets the reporting needs of internal management and external clients and audit agencies
- Oversee accounts payable and travel functions ensuring compliance with GAAP and Federal Acquisition Regulations
- Participate in preparation of federal government rate proposals and annual submissions
- Coordinate audits of contract rate proposals, government case close-outs, provisional rate proposals, and annual rate submissions
- Weekly and monthly closing responsibilities: weekly cycle processing and reporting, and various month-end account reconciliations to ensure complete and timely transaction processing
- Report on government contracts, census, and other statutory information requests
- Prepare property and sales tax returns, perform fixed asset accounting and P&L account analysis
- Participate in system upgrades providing recommendations for enhancements aimed at increased efficiency and effectiveness
- Willingness to be hands-on
- Ability to work collaboratively with a small team and interact professionally with internal staff & external parties at all levels
- High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal direction
- Excellent communication skills
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Resident
- B.S. in Accounting from an excellent academic program required; advanced degree desirable
- 2-5 years of public and private accounting experience including project accounting and developing financial reports
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, Lotus Notes, as well as experience using databases and accounting software
- C.P.A. certification and Deltek experience is a plus
- Government Cost Accounting experience a plus
