Battery Safety

The TIAX Li-Ion Battery Safety Development Environment helps battery developers and OEMs improve safety and screen changes in battery materials and vendors.

A Faster, More Reliable Approach to Addressing Safety
TIAX is unique in the ability to combine a detailed understanding of Li-ion technology, with deep experience auditing safety incidents and access to a variety of specialized thermal hazard and electrochemical characterization tools in our own laboratories.

Our Li-Ion Battery Safety Development Environment has been used to investigate numerous in-the-field safety incidents and address safety issues. It offers a faster, more reliable, and more flexible approach to addressing critical battery safety, performance, and sourcing challenges.

Specifically, we can help:

  • Predict the safety performance of batteries under different operating conditions
  • Predict the consequences of damage or abuse, including exposure to thermal, electrical, environmental, and mechanical stresses
  • Evaluate the safety characteristics of alternative battery materials, designs, and components to achieve optimal performance
  • Design and develop materials with characteristics more likely to result in a benign field failure
  • Design and develop battery protection mechanisms to target safety failures through an internal short-circuit
