FC Toolset™

TIAX has developed FC Toolset™— a suite of simulation tools for a range of fuel cell technologies—that provides the integrated information needed to make effective decisions regarding performance, reliability, and cost in large-scale development programs. The result of years of development and millions of dollars of investment, FC Toolset includes interrelated models that help predict the effect that technological change will have on performance at the electrode, cell, stack, and component levels. We also use the toolset to estimate the impact that these various changes will have on performance and cost parameters at the system level.

FC Toolset incorporates:

  • Single cell models with accurate descriptions of electrode processes to simulate measured trends and extrapolate cell performance under conditions not easily accessed in the laboratory
  • Stack models that estimate the three-dimensional distribution of key variables under practical operating conditions such as power density, reactant concentration, temperature, and stress distributions
  • System-level thermodynamic models that estimate system efficiency and help size components
  • Activity-based manufacturing cost models that evaluate the impact of technology developments on the system cost and identify ways to reduce costs

With the FC Toolset Development Environment, TIAX can collaborate with your management and development teams to quickly address the most complex fuel cell issues and provide objective and quantified results to accelerate commercialization.
