Technology Demonstration Program
TIAX California demonstrates alternative and advanced fuel and vehicle technologies, gathering operating and engineering data and engine and fuel system performance information.
The data collected in our demonstration work helps to establish proof of concept, refine engineering designs, and prove the viability of innovative systems under real-world conditions.
Example projects:
- Demonstrated exhaust gas recirculation diesel technology with particulate traps meeting 2002 standards.
- Assisted in the investigation of selective catalytic reduction-urea technology feasibility in Class 8 on-road trucks.
- Participated in the Hybrid Yard Hostler Demonstration Project for Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
- Charactized drayage truck duty cycles at the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
- Participated in the demonstration of a liquid natural gas fueled switcher locomotiveat Pacific Harbor Line, Inc. a project commissioned by the Port of Long Beach in cooperation with the Port of Los Angeles.
