Battery Control for Lithium-Ion Packs

TIAX has developed Cel-X™ cell-balancing hardware and software to improve the safety, capacity, and pack life of lithium-ion batteries. Using a non-dissipative approach that regulates and balances the state-of-charge of the individual cells that form the pack, Cel-X protects Li-ion battery packs from the detrimental effects caused by the unbalanced distribution of charge across cells. As a result, the available pack capacity is not limited by the lowest capacity cell—a significant advantage over conventional dissipative approaches to cell balancing.

Cel-X delivers the following key benefits:

In Portable Applications:

  • Maximizes runtime
  • Reduces capacity fade over time
  • Reduces battery stress and damage
  • Improves safety

In High-Power Applications:

  • Maximizes available power
  • Controls warranty costs
  • Improves safety
  • Extends runtime
