Interconnect Material for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

TIAX has developed novel interconnect materials that solve some of the major technical limitations associated with solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). Our new metal matrix composite (MMC) interconnect materials should enable development of robust, reliable stacks and viable SOFC systems that meet the performance, durability, and cost targets needed to achieve commercial viability. Our MMC materials combine the best properties of metal and ceramic components to offer a unique and valuable combination of thermo-mechanical-chemical properties.

TIAX interconnect materials offer the following advantages:

  • High-power density
  • Low-contact resistance
  • No cathode poisoning
  • Low interfacial resistance
  • Effective stack sealing
  • Reduced thermal stresses
